Chico’s Masonic lodge is hosting a free public open house to offer information and answer questions from the curious and skeptical.

Freemasonry is the world’s oldest and largest fraternal organization.

We are opening the lodge to the public to let them know who we are, what we stand for, and what we bring to the community, state and country. Not just for Blue lodge-- Shriners, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, DeMolay, Jobs Daughters and Rainbow for Girls will be represented. Please help participate, come meet with the pubic and tell them about your experiences or your group within the larger Freemasonic Family.

  • Tour of the lodge room and viewing of symbols and lodge artifacts.

  • short documentaries will be available for viewing.

Invite curious family and friends

Paper or Online?: Consider the Trestleboard's Cost - Go Digital!

Welcome to the 21st Century!

Dang we are already 19 years into it, so….. websites and email are the rule of communication these days. With that said we would like everyone that receives a mailed paper Trestleboard to consider switching to reading it on this website and receiving it by email.

Here is the kicker if you want it sent to you by email then the lodge secretary has to have an email address on file. If you do not have an email then you can go on this website, even with your cellphone. The calendar will be updated on the website OR if you are a member WHY have you not signed up for the lodge cellphone app? Get it downloaded here and follow the instructions. Members Only.

Do your lodge, your community and our ONLY planet a favor and contact the lodge secretary, Bro. Sid Crane, and tell him you no longer need the mailed Trestleboard.

Black History Month: Celebrating Famous Black Freemasons!

let-there-be-light-wishum-gregory2.jpg

From a an article by The Guardian (2014), we quote:

“Start digging into the history of freemasonry and you discover that [Duke] Ellington was just one of many renowned African-American musicians to be inducted into its mysterious world. He was joined by the likes of Nat King Cole, WC Handy, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Lionel Hampton and Paul Robeson….

“By 1900, Prince Hall masonry had become a forum for politicised African-Americans, with Booker T Washington (1856-1915) and W.E.B. Du Bois (1868-1963) serving as active members. Throughout the 20th century, many key figures in the civil rights movement were attracted to freemasonry. The father of Martin Luther King Jr Martin Luther King Sr (1900-84) – was a member of the 23rd lodge in Atlanta, Georgia. Medgar Evers, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) activist who was assassinated in 1963, was a 32nd-degree freemason in Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction. Alex Haley (1921-92), the writer of Roots and biographer of Malcolm X, was a 33rd-degree mason in the same order. Thurgood Marshall (1908-93), the first black member of the US Supreme Court, was supported by his Prince Hall lodge in Louisiana. The comedian Richard Pryor (1940-2005) joined a lodge in Peoria, Illinois, while actor and activist Ossie Davis (1917-2005), Paul Robeson (1898-1976) and the boxer Sugar Ray Robinson (1921-89) were all active Prince Hall masons.” Finally, Shaquille O'neal (2011) and Nelson Mandela (1991) just to name a few.
